Today, we we met with Dr. Kalungi in the hospital to give him an summary of how the testing went in Mbarara and Mulago the week before. Dr. Kalungi was able to use the app and gave us valuable feedback about improvements to make. He validated the value that the tool could have once these improvements are in place and it got our gears spinning about the next steps. With that, we said goodbye to our PI and wrapped up a successful period of testing in the health facilities.
But wait... there's more!
During the trip, we connected with colleagues of doctors we knew, and planned to have our last two users (to make it 50 total) be intern doctors. The reason why we were keen on having interns test the tool and give us their feedback is because interns really see a lot in the hospital, are less entrenched in the status quo, and the ones that we connected with - work with AI in their research and ventures quite a bit!
We set up in the courtyard of our accommodations and had Daniel and Raymond test the app and take the surveys after Dan and I shared the didactic with them. As anticipated, they caught on quickly and gave great feedback about the ideal user profile and about what workflows would and wouldn't work in the hospital. And with them, we had officially wrapped up our usability testing for the April-May 2024 period in Uganda.
