May 7 - Last full day in Mbarara

Dan and I went to the hospital bright and early, but unfortunately were not able to have any users test on this day. Instead, we took time to visit the Biomedical Engineers stationed at the hospital and socialized about how the team might troubleshoot or react to a troubleshooting request for the Ekyaalo Diagnostics intervention once commercialized.

For those unfamiliar with the role of Biomedical Engineers in a hospital setting, in both developed and developing countries, BMEs are the folks called when any medical equipment is broken, in need of troubleshooting or updates, or in another form of disrepair. Therefore, it is crucial to have them on board when a new intervention is proposed. No matter how robust technology might be, when it's technology in a high acuity setting like a hospital, including Biomedical Engineers as stakeholders is a must.

We left the hospital with a plan to have our last couple of users test in Kampala and gathered our materials. Dr. Mitala and Habert joined me for lunch and it was a great way to conclude our final full day in Mbarara!

We took some personal time for the rest of the day and packed for an early start to Kampala the next day.
