Day 3: July 31st, 2025 Jinja RRH

July 31st the team traveled 2.5 hours from Kampal to Jinja. While in Jinja we visited Jinja Regional Referral Hospital. The team interviewed a pathologist, a cytotechnologist, a laboratory manager and a surgeon. We gained insights into how healthcare is managed in rural low resource hospitals. While on this journey a biomedical engineering student from Makerere University named Joel joined us and engaged in the interview process as well. In the evening the team began assembling the whole slide scanner and realized the power supply had broken. We outsourced a local electrician for help and he agreed to help us the next morning. This was a very frustrating time but the team is hopeful.
