Day 15: August 11th, 2025 MUST
Monday August 11th the team spent an inspiring day at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and Mbarara University of Science & Technology.
We kicked off the morning by joining a pathology defense where the focus was on Triple Negative Breast Cancer and Gastric Adenocarcinoma. Hearing about cutting-edge research and joining the academic discussion was a real highlight. 🧬💬
Next, we toured the pathology and chemistry laboratories, asking questions to compare healthcare and pathology practices in the East vs. the West. The insights were eye-opening and sparked valuable conversations. 🔬🌍
In the afternoon, we joined the undergraduate biomedical engineering orientation, sharing advice and encouragement with the incoming students. Later, we met with Dr. Wasswa, head of the biomedical department, who introduced us to his project papsAI—a fascinating initiative that closely aligns with our own work. 🚀
We wrapped up the day with a business dinner alongside our amazing stakeholders from Uganda’s western region—ending on a note of connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. 🤝🌅
