Hi! Teja here. I left Dulles International Airport at 10AM on January 7th with Sunny, my CBID classmate working on a malaria vector control project in Uganda, and began a 12 hour (speedy pilot!) flight to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The time change made it the morning of January 8th, which lent itself for a perfect Ethiopian coffee cappuccino.

After a layover intended to be two hours long but lengthened by a dysfunctional plane air conditioning system, we flew from Addis Ababa to Entebbe, Uganda.

Once in Uganda, after customs, forex, and sim card logistics, some of the tech that Sunny was carrying in his bag got flagged for extra airport attention and added a few more hours to our time in Entebbe. Note on this for the future - make sure that purchased technology (like cell phones!) used for a research study needs to have MoH permissions if being brought in a passenger bag. Upon finally leaving the Entebbe airport, we headed for Kampala and checked into a hotel for some R&R after the lengthy travel. After a good meal at the hotel and decompressing, I met with a loved one and then called it a night.
